Regional English Training Centres

BC     On 13th October 2016, English Language Institute hosted a press conference "Regional English Training Centres" at OBEC Meeting Room1.

     General Dapong Rattanasuwan, Minister of Education along with Mr.Andrew Glass,Bristish Council Thailand and Mr.Teerakiat Jaroensettasin, Deputy Minister of Education announced the establishment of Regional English Training Centres in 8 locations across four regions in Thailand namely Traimdom Suksa School, Khonkaenwittayayon School, Wattanothai Payap School, Suratpittaya School, Chonkanyanukoon School, Benjama Maharaj School,Suranareewittaya School and Chalermkwan Satree School. The project is expected to work with 5,100 primary amd secondary English teachers. The British Council has supported this program by designing a curriculum which will support teachers to develop their communicative teaching skills and improve their English proficiency. There will be three teacher trainers working in each location training 75 primary and secondary teachers on three-week intensive courses from October 2016 to September 2017.
     As part of this program, 27 master trainners, who successfully completed the Boot Camp teacher and trianer development program in March 2016, will be trained up to be core-trainers and to use  their increased confidence and proficiency in the use of English in the classroom and wider situations in sustainable way. They will have an oportunity to co-train with the British Council teacher trainners, with their support throughout the program as they deliver their own workshops when they are ready. Ongoing support and mentoring is an important part of the apporach.
On 11th April 2016, UK and Thailand signed a Memorandum of Understanding on an education partnership, agreeing a common agenda.
